Judy Burnett Albright called St. Augustine home throughout the 80’s and returned in 2005. She joined the Junior Service League in 1983, shortly after the adoption of the lighthouse restoration project. Albright recalls fond memories of watching the Lighthouse gain its black and white stripes while she was a teacher at R. B. Hunt.Judy has spent much of her professional career working with children. She was in the classroom for a number of years before becoming the assistant director of The Pembroke Hill School’s Summer Programs in Kansas City, MO, where she worked for nearly 14 years. While in St. Augustine in the 80s, Judy was the assistant physical education teacher at R.B. Hunt and simultaneously served as the director of the preschool at Memorial Presbyterian Church. Retired from the classroom, Judy now works part time at Coomes Oil.Judy is a deacon in the PSUSA and member of Memorial Presbyterian Church. Judy has two adult children: David Luther Albright, a Ph.D. candidate at FSU and Beth Albright Wetzler, an attorney in Atlanta. She is also the proud grandmother of four: Avery, Lee, Camille and Elizabeth.
Charles G. Cox
Charles Cox was born October 7, 1970 in Tallahassee, FL. He attended Auburn University from 1988-1992 studying Marketing and Building Science. In his final two years of college, Cox owned and operated a construction sub-contracting business.
After college, Cox moved to Orlando to assist his family in running Lakeridge Winery where he was in charge of Sales, Special Events, Public Relations and Marketing. In 1996, he moved to St. Augustine to open the San Sebastian Winery.
Raymond (Ray) H. Hamel
Ray Hamel has been involved with the St. Augustine Lighthouse & Museum since 1990 and, along with his wife Barbara, is the creator of Sunset Moonrise, a wildly successful once monthly fundraiser.
The former Combat Engineer returned home to New York City and went work for Ebasco Services, Inc. before he joined Scudder, Stevens & Clark where he stayed for 24-years.
Ray Hamel is also an entrepreneur. Hamel was the owner of Ray-Bar Services, Commercial & Charter Fishing and Ray H. Hamel Weather Caster (Hamel forecasted for corporate clients such as Six Flags, Ski Mountains, Petro Oil, and Scudder).
The former Museum Board of Trustees Chairman, is a United States Coast Guard Licensed Ship Captain and currently works as a Ships Master & NPS Ranger.
Graig D. Shaak
Graig Shaak is a 37 year museum veteran. He has spent his entire professional career at the Florida Museum of Natural History. He received his BS, MAT and PhD degrees at Shippensburg University, Indiana University and University of Pittsburgh, respectively. He was on the UF faculty for 35 years where he served as an instructor in the Department of Geology and the UF Museum Studies Program. He was awarded the UF Student Affairs Outstanding Contribution to Student Life Award and received the Outstanding Leadership and Service Award from the UF Recreational Sports Program. Shaak served on and chaired the Florida Advisory Council on Science Education.
Graig has served on seven AAM accreditation visit teams, four times as team contact, on seven MAP surveys, and on the 2009 IMLS 21st Century Museums Grants Panel and Museum Data Collection Field Convening.
He is a trustee of the Bailey-Matthews Shell Museum in Sanibel, Florida and the St. Augustine Lighthouse & Museum in St. Augustine, Florida.
Upon his retirement in 2007, Graig was honored with the Florida Association of Museums Lifetime Achievement Award and the SEMC James R. Short, Lifetime Achievement Award.
Peter Spiller
Peter Spiller was born March 25, 1943 in New York City. Peter's career has been exclusively involved with transport of cargo by sea.
Since retiring from Maersk in 2000, Peter was a General Manager of the Grand Bahama Port Authority in Freeport for two years. Freeport Container Port has grown larger in container throughout than the Port of Miami. He is now President of the Board of the Florida Shipowners Group Inc. and Executive Director of both the Caribbean Shipowners Association and the Florida-Bahamas Shipowners and Operators Association.
His wife Debbie and he have four children and nine grandchildren with a tenth expected.
Captain Gregory F. Streeter, USN (Ret)
Captain Streeter was born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin where he attended Catholic Grade School, Catholic High School, and one year at Marquette University. He joined the NROTC at Marquette as a Contract student. During his freshman year he took a competitive entrance exam for the United States Naval Academy and succeeded in obtaining a Presidential appointment. He entered the Naval Academy in 1954 and graduated, receiving his commission in the Navy in 1958.
After his retirement from the Navy in 1986, he worked five years for Electronic Data Systems Corp, seven years for PRC, Inc and two years, for GRC, Inc, all in the Washington, D.C., area marketing Information Technology Systems and Services to the Federal Government. He retired in 2000.
Captain Streeter is the Commander General of the Naval Order of the United States and the National Chairman for the Naval Order of the United States Navy D-Day Monument Project. He is actively involved with the Navy League, belongs to the Naval Academy Alumni Association, the Military Officers Association of America, the Tin Can Sailors Association and the American Legion.
