The Museum's Collection
The St. Augustine Lighthouse First Order Fresnel lens is the largest object in our collection. 1762 Jefferys Map.
The St. Augustine Lighthouse and Museum's mission is to discover, preserve,
present, and keep alive the story of the nation's oldest port, as symbolized
by our working St. Augustine lighthouse. The Collections Department
researches, gathers, exhibits, and makes available objects and archives
associated with St. Augustine's maritime heritage.
Many items have been acquired through the Museum's historical and
archaeological research. Other items were given to SAL&M as legacies after
passing through several generations or offered as gifts from people and
organizations who support the Museum's work. |
