Meet the Staff
Brenda Swann, Director of Education
Brenda joined the staff at the St. Augustine Lighthouse and Museum (SAL&M) in 2011. Prior to that, Brenda developed public archaeology education programs for K-12 schools, non-profit organizations and state and local governments for over 10 years. Additionally, she has produced two heritage tourism publications in the Florida Department of State Heritage Trail Series and holds a Master’s degree in Historical Archaeology from the University of West Florida. She has managed the State of Florida’s archaeology program, participating in both underwater and land-based archaeology projects, and has authored and co-authored articles and book chapters on Florida archaeology and history for Florida History and the Arts magazine, Southeastern Archaeology, American Antiquity, and the University Press of Florida. Brenda enjoys the opportunity to use her knowledge and experience to create educational programming that incorporates both the maritime history of the area and the research conducted by the Lighthouse Archaeological Maritime Program (LAMP).
