Maritime Education & Activities for Kids

Activities for Visitors

For those who do not meet the 44 inch height requirement to climb, we offer a variety of alternative fun in the Eliza’s and Cracker’s Club Area, named after the daughter of the supervisor of construction of the current lighthouse and the son of a previous lighthouse keeper.  The centerpiece of this area is our Children’s Shipyard, and there is also a telescope pointed at the top of the tower, a walk-in kaliedescope, fun mirrors, and knot tying activities. We have a scavenger hunt that will amuse parents and children alike as you search for items throughout the museum exhibits and grounds.

Educational Opportunities

The St. Augustine Lighthouse & Museum, a Smithsonian Affiliate, offers a variety of fun, hands-on educational experiences for learning opportunities for groups of all ages, both on site or at your location.  We also offer volunteer opportunities and college internships for those who need work experience. Please visit a link on the left for more information about our specific programs or contact us at 904.829.0745.
